Location
Cabo San Lucas, Mexico is situated at the southern tip of Baja California peninsula at 22.88° N 109.90° W, where the Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortez are met by the unparalleled beaches of Costa Azul.
Geography
Cabo and San Jose are quaint, colonial seaside villages embraced by the unprecedented tropical waters and beaches of the Sea of Cortez. A short distance to rugged mountains with waterfalls and remote historic villages of Todo Santos, Santiago and La Paz.
The Corridor
Cabo San Lucas' exclusive party atmosphere and San Jose’s laid-back colonial style are bridged by famed golf courses and the resort-studded Tourist Corridor that stretches between the twin towns in 20 miles of pristine white sand beaches and craggy coves. Exclusive hotels and gated residential communities attracting a wide clientele of rich and famous weave seamlessly amid this wondrous landscape and comprise this region known as “the Corridor”. Average water temperature: 72oF. Average air temperatures: 50 to 80oF. winter; 70 to 100oF. summer. The Pacific Ocean side of Los Cabos is generally 10oF. cooler than the Sea of Cortéz. Average annual rainfall: 10 inches Coldest months: December and January
Arrival
The San Jose del Cabo International Airport located twenty minutes from Villa Las Palmas. Our concierge is happy to provide personal service of airport transfers to the villa, or make rental car arrangements. You may also visit the Discount Travel site link above for discount booking on line. There are frequent taxi or van transfers from the airport as well.?Proof of citizenship via a current passport is necessary to cross the border into Mexico. Upon arrival, visitors are given a Tourist Card which must be turned in upon departure at the airport. At that time, a departure tax is charged and payable in U.S. dollars or Mexican pesos. Most airlines include this tax when ticketing, but check ahead to make sure.?Non-US citizens need to check with a Mexican consulate for possible visa requirements.
Currency
Pesos, although U.S. dollars are widely accepted in businesses throughout town. Major credit cards are also accepted in most establishments.
Water
Our water authority has received certification for several consecutive years ensuring that our water is clean for human consumption, but we still recommend drinking only bottled water. Villa Las Palmas also has a water purifier. Microdine is sold to purify vegetable and salad greens.
Taxis
Cabo has more than 1,000 taxis available around town. The union has preset tariffs for travel rather than meters. Fare within the downtowns are only a few dollars. Hotels often post the rates to popular destinations, but it is always a good idea to ask about the cost before you travel.
Buses
Buses will take you from Cabo San Lucas to San Jose del Cabo throughout the corridor and accept pesos, approximately $4 USD. A bus stop is conveniently located just outside our gated community. Push the button marked "timbre" to signal the driver to stop.
